  • "Walking along the spiral" is a self-portrait. It is the first milestone of a concentric series of portraits intended to focus progressively on members of the filmmaker’s family, friends, and strangers, and to unfold expressions encapsulating one’s existence in the here and now. Each portrait is programmed to be an independent piece too, and the encounter with each participant is supposed to be the occasion to explore formats that genuinely reflect one’s attitude towards life. Here, I, the filmmaker, am walking along the spiral of life and sharing the personal insight at the core of the calling to create this series of portraits: we are all one and reflections of one another.

    • Synopsis: An unnamed young woman goes through the motions of getting ready for a night out while contemplating the ownership of her own body. Her ritualist actions — shower, shave, makeup — are cut into by intrusive thoughts of pulling at her flesh and smearing makeup across her face. Her internal monologue attempts to pinpoint the moment or event that she lost the rights to her own physical form. At first she thinks it was the first time someone made a comment about her physical appearance. Then she wonders if it was actually the first time she was intimate with another person. She runs through several more scenarios but concludes that there was no definitive moment — pieces of her have been chipped away since she was a little girl.
